Kantipur dental college teaching hospital and research center in coordination with Nepal Australia Friendship Association.(NAFA) organized four days( 24th feb to 27th feb 2017) free dental camp and also baseline survey to assess the treatment needs of people in a remote hill of Dhading district, Ree Tawal. The program was funded by Nepal Australia Friendship Association(NAFA) and supported by Local NGO, Hilly Region Developing Club.
Dental team were warmly welcomed by the locals and helped by local health volunteers throughout the camp. The main objective of the program was to create the oral health awareness in the community as well as to assess the treatment needs of the patients. Team conducted program of screening, oral hygiene instructions, simple curative procedures like extractions and ART. Total of 208 patients were attended who mostly presented with problem of dental caries and missing teeth due to caries. Due to lack of oral health awareness patients opted for removal of tooth once they get dental decay, instead of treating their tooth on time and saving them. Very few (Only 5 out of 208) had Good oral hygiene. Also most people had no habit of Regular Brushing. All of them were provides with toothbrushes and toothpastes after the demonstration of brushing technique.
