Kantipur Dental College And Hospital conducted oral screening Program called’ Project Healthy Child Healthy smile on 27 August 2017.The main idea of the project was to catch the oral disease as early as possible for which the age group was kept the youngest with primary dentition. A team of 12 doctors led by Dr Parajeeta
Dikshit( Head of Department, Pediatric Dentistry) conducted oral screening at Euro kids school . Total of 262 kids of age between 18 months to 5 years were screened where the most common finding was dental caries.
Team basically focused on promotion of oral health and make children and teachers understand the importance of primary tooth. All the children were provided with oral hygiene instructions that imcluded balanced diet and tooth brushing technique according to the age group.
Also the teaching faculties that included 30 members were screened and provided with a presentation on importance of oral health along with trauma care By Dr Parajeeta Dikshit. This was mainly done to make them aware about importance of oral health and role of primary dentition . This could motivate children to follow the proper oral hygiene methods everyday as well as prepare themselves for any kind of dental emergency.
