Blood Donation Camp-2016

A blood donation camp was organized by the Kantipur Dental and General Hospital, Basundhara on 14th June 2016 on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2016. Blood scarcity is one of the major causes of death in many cases in a developing country like Nepal. Many social and economic reasons are behind the reason for people not understanding the value of blood donation still in our society. Non Availability of blood in time is the major problem in the immediate health support of people in Nepal. Recognizing this fact Kantipur Dental College and General Hospital is organizing such a valuable and important drive to not only contribute in solving this crisis but also educate people in the nobility of donating blood and saving lives. The motto of this year’s programme is one selected by the WHO saying “Blood Connects Us All” . Kantipur Dental College and General Hospital is one of a leading hospitals in Kathmandu having hundred beds with latest technologies catering to the people’s health.

This programme saw over 60 people donating blood in the camp organized in the hospital premises. The programme was aptly supported by the Nepal Red Cross Society, Rotaract Club of Kantipur Dental College , and Lions Club of KTM, Machhapokhari and Asha who volunteered to collect the blood for future use. Large participation were seen from students and staffs of Kantipur Dental College and General Hospital .

Community Diagnosis Program ‐ 2014

The Community Diagnosis Program-2014 aimed to compare socioeconomic and health attributes of people living at newly formed Chapakot municipality. Minor ethnic groups of people residing in Chapakot like Magar, Sarki, Bishwakarma, Majhi, Newar and Kumal were covered so that they could be compared with dominating Brahmin and Chhetri ethnic groups for oral and general health status. Ward/ area allocation according to specific ethnic group was done and orientation on the purpose of CDP along with rapport building technique was briefed to the participating students. Household survey was done on December 26-27, 2014. A group of 54 students of BDS 7th batch were equally divided into nine groups and assigned in different wards of Chapakot municipality. A total of 216 households were covered by second year BDS students with nearly 4 houses visited by each student. On December 28th, school oral health program was conducted in nine different schools of Chapakot municipality.

World Oral Health Day ‐2014

Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital & Research Center celebrated World Oral Health Day-2014 on 20th March ith
the slogan ‘Celebrating healthy smiles’ by organizing rally with attractive play cards portraying oral health messages. The rally went round to the roads of Basundhara, Dhapasi and Samakhushi area.

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Praveen Mishra, Health Secretary, Minister of Health & Population and the program was markedly attended by Mr. Krishna Gopal Shrestha,Former Minister, Mr. Yangya Prasad Neupane, Chairman,
Nepal Pharmacy Council and Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, Member Secretary, CTEVT. On the occasion, Maxillofacial Trauma Center and Dental Implant Center were inaugurated.
