From September 18–21, 2024, Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center (KDCH) proudly participated in the 14th Asia Pacific Travel Health Conference (APTHC 2024), showcasing its leadership in dental tourism and advanced oral health care in Nepal. The Department of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis & Radiology (OMDR) presented a research poster titled “Best of Alternative Treatment Practices: Allied Care as a Medical Tourism Perspective at KDCH”, highlighting KDCH’s comprehensive dental services and emphasizing the critical role of oral health in achieving overall wellness.

The conference drew distinguished presenters and delegates from around the world, including the United States, France, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand (Mahidol University), Australia, and Nepal. KDCH’s poster emphasized the institution’s contribution to medical and dental tourism in Nepal, showcasing best practices in patient care, alternative treatments, and interdisciplinary allied care services.

Special recognition was given to Dr. Junu Karki for expertly bridging communication gaps by explaining KDCH services to academic delegates from China in fluent Chinese. The presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Siddharth Gupta (HOD, OMDR), with esteemed presence from Dr. Pratikchhya Shrestha (Hospital Director, KDCH) and Dr. Sujan Neupane. Additionally, Dr. Durga Bhandari was acknowledged for her valuable role as a regional organizing committee member from Nepal.

This participation underscores KDCH’s commitment to advancing dental tourism, enhancing oral health services in Nepal, and positioning the college as a global hub for innovative dental care and patient-centered health tourism.
