Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital has celebrated its 16th establishment anniversary. Since December 16, 2007, Kantipur Dental College has been an institution that has made a significant mark in the field of dental education and services.

During the anniversary event, the Chairman of the Nepal Medical Council, Prof. Dr. Chopalal Bhusal, praised the contribution made by KDCH in Nepal’s field of oral and dental education and services. He emphasized the importance of oral and dental health, stating that maintaining them keeps numerous diseases at bay. Dr. Bhusal also highlighted the increasing population in the dental sector, which should correspondingly lead to growth in employment opportunities, urging the government to increase its support in this regard.

Additionally, Dr. Buddhiman Shrestha, the President of KDCH, discussed the institution’s contribution to dental education and services. He mentioned that over 1 million people have received dental treatment services, resulting in the production of around a hundred dentists and twenty-eight specialist doctors in Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in the field.

He said, “We have produced 466 doctors in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and 28 specialist doctors in Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). We have also trained 675 dentists and 259 pharmacists in Certificate in Dental Sciences and Diploma in Pharmacy, respectively, since 2069 B.S.”

Since 2070 B.S., the hospital has initiated operations such as the KDCH Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma Center, Oral Health Center for Special Needs, and Dental Implant Center.

Moreover, in the program, best wishes were extended by Dr. Narendra Bahadur Rana, former Dean of KU School of Medicine, and Dr. Bhim Chand, Secretary of Private Medical and Dental Colleges Association.

During the occasion, honors were given to 14 employees who completed 15 years of service and 25 employees who completed 10 years of service at KDCH.
